
LAWRENCE E. HOWARD
Lawrence has been in practice for more than thirty years. He provides professional legal and planning services to individuals, families, non-profit organizations, business and municipalities across New York. In addition to a JD from Brooklyn Law School, he has a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute. He has drafted many local zoning laws and regularly speaks on land use and zoning issues. Lawrence has a great deal of experience in estate planning and probate, and all manner of real estate transactions. He is counsel to two upstate land trusts and has worked on land conservation matters for decades. He and Susan have three adult daughters, a disc golf course, and a dog who is often in the office.
SUSAN L. TAYLOR
Susan Taylor graduated magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School. She clerked for the Honorable Carol Bagley Amon of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Honorable Francis X. Altimari of the United States Circuit Court for the Second Circuit. She was a litigator in private practice in Albany, New York before joining the Office of the New York Attorney General where she served as an Assistant Attorney General and then Section Chief in the Environmental Protection Bureau. She is a past president of the Capital District Women’s Bar Association. She and Lawrence Howard have lived in Sand Lake for thirty years. They have raised three daughters of whom they are very proud, renovated an old
farmhouse in Taborton, and worked on land conservation on the Rensselaer Plateau. Susan’s practice will focus on estate planning and probate.
IN MEMORIAM: MORTON D. SHULMAN
Mort Shulman graduated from Albany Law School in 1957 and opened an office in Averill Park. He built a practice in the general practice of law including real estate, estate planning and town court matters. Mort was a Sand Lake Town Justice for approximately 30 years, a member of the
New York State Magistrate’s Association, and a former member of the New York State Trial Attorneys Association. He loved his community and was committed to providing excellent legal services to his clients. He helped establish Shulman, Howard & McPherson LLP to ensure that his name and quality legal services would remain synonymous for years to come. Mort passed away in 2016 but his legacy endures.
Malcolm A. McPherson was a partner at firm predecessor Shulman, Howard & McPherson for
nearly twenty years before embarking on a new opportunity in the southwest. We miss him and
wish him every success in his future endeavors.
